Volunteer Opportunities
December Volunteer Opportunities:
- Holiday Party for 50-60 youth participants. Tasks include food preparation, providing food/meals: Rice, chicken or vegetables, dessert, drinks. Deadline to commit 12/17/2018. Small holiday gifts for kids, gift cards such as McDonalds or Jack in the Box.
January Volunteer Opportunities:
- Ukulele instructor
- Tutors, help with homework
- Volunteers and material to build/paint benches for our courtyard, tables/chairs (for outside café like area for kids/staff use in our courtyard using large cable spools for tables)
Program Needs
Adopt-A-Family:
- Members: Mother (pregnant), 3 year old girl, 1 year old boy
- Members: Mother and 6 year old girl
- Members: Mother (pregnant), 8 month old boy
- Members: Husband and Wife (50+ years)
- Members: Husband and Wife (50+ years)
- Members: Mother, 14 year old boy, 12 year old boy
*Necessities are defined as: gift cards to purchase basic needs and every day supplies from Walmart or CVS and/or gift cards to purchase a holiday meal from Safeway, Times, Foodland or Zippy’s. This could also be for a gift card for a family to do a fun activity together (e.g. watch a movie, go to the zoo, or aquarium, etc.) or a toy for the child.

Food Items:
We provide year-round emergency food pantry and nourishing snacks to youth in our programs. Desired food includes non-perishable food such as the following:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Rice
- Candy
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Cereal
- Canned protein (spam, tuna, chicken, sardines, chili, soups, beans)
- Ramen or Cup-o-Noodles
- Juice
Child/Teen Items:
The agency’s programs supports clients and their families. The agency provides basic needs for clients who are houseless and come to the Center seeking assistance. Families in our youth programs often need basic necessities.

SWCC Basketball League Players
- Jersey tops & shorts
- Duffle bags
- Basketballs, volleyballs and dodge balls to replace worn out balls that do not properly inflate when pumped
- Ball cart/racks to transport and store the balls and to ensure safety so balls are not rolling all around
- Clipboards, Whistles– for basketball coaches
- Basketball nets – to replace existing worn nets
- 2 portable baskets/rims – to replace old portable ones for use in gym
- Gym fans- large gym fans to cool the gym on extra hot days so kids do not overheat

- Shot clcks/score keeper
- Water bottles and cleaning and drying supplies for water bottles
- Wristbands (for players to earn and then trade them in for a t-shirt, socks or other items, for an incentive program)
Gift Certificates:
- $30 – $50 gift cards to Foodland, Safeway, and Times Supermarket: To allow families to purchase fresh produce and groceries, other than non-perishable food items
- $40 Gift Cards for Families (Longs, Walmart): To allow families to purchase basic necessities
- $40 Gas Card for Families
Emergency Food Pantry
- Costco Gift Card to purchase supplies for the Emergency Food Pantry such as Zip lock bags and gloves to handle food
Agency Needs
- 6-8 rolls of Postage stamps to mail out correspondence
- Gift cards to purchase paint and painting supplies to paint over graffiti
- Step ladders (to replace current old unsafe step ladders)
- Refrigerator or Freezer (newer ones that are more economical and energy savers)
- PA System
- Popcorn machine; cotton candy machine; shave ice machine; hot dog machine; (event style machines; not home use machines) for youth and community activities
- Sewing machines for adult women to use to sew clothing for family
- Larger Agency Vehicle (such as a van) to transport kids to and from games and activities; picking kids up from school to get the center for activities; pick up food from Food Bank
- Ice maker – currently make ice in large tubs
- A/C Units to replace ones in department that are slowly dying
